A hidden Nanyang-style beef noodle shop in a residential home — big, tender chunks of beef and a rich broth

This beef noodle shop is quite special. I only discovered it by chance while passing by Hemu Road that day. Since the whole street consists of residential homes, it really doesn’t seem like the ideal spot for a food business!!! But they went ahead and opened one anyway — perhaps they’re confident in their cooking skills, or maybe it’s because they don’t have to pay rent. Either way, the shop has been operating for some time now and seems to have a steady stream of customers.

It’s located right across from the Landmark Hotel in Yilan. I’ve heard the hotel has been renovated and now looks completely renewed. Friends living nearby should definitely come and give it a try.

Since it’s a converted residential home, it doesn’t have the feel of a typical commercial space. If it weren’t for the counter, it would almost feel like you’re eating at someone’s house.

All the tables and chairs are made of wood — solid and sturdy!! There’s a hint of Nanyang-Chinese style, and the environment is kept very clean!! It’s perfect for family meals.

We simply ordered two bowls of noodles!! Beef noodles and stir-fried spaghetti

Since beef noodles are the highlight here, we definitely had to try them!!

The beef here comes in fairly large chunks. It’s slow-cooked until tender but still has a bit of bite!! The broth is rich and flavorful, and the noodles are just okay, Up.

This bowl of stir-fried spaghetti is also pretty good, nothing too outstanding, but still tasty.

This home-style beef noodle shop performs better than expected!!! The prices are reasonable too.

We’re quite curious about the mushroom beef noodles on the menu and will definitely come back to try them next time.
