No need to go to the beach to beat the heat—Nantou’s new summer retreat, “Ginkgo Forest Trail”!

Want to cool off in summer without getting sunburned? Head to a forest trail to breathe in some phytoncides (airborne compounds released by plants)! Nantou County boasts abundant natural landscapes, and its classic hiking trails are popular spots for watching sunrises and sea of clouds. Trails such as the Lulin Mountain Trail, Little Qilai Trail, and Dream Valley Waterfall Trail are great for hiking. The Ginkgo Trail in Nantou is also nearing completion.

Located on Dashantou in Lugu Township, where expansive and stunning views abound, the Ginkgo Forest and Wuxiu Farm are situated along a fork road leading to the Shanlinxi Forest Recreation Area at Yangwan. This hidden paradise is perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle and relaxing the mind. Surrounded by lush mountain peaks and misty clouds, you’ll forget about the summer heat in no time. It’s an ideal destination for a summer trip.

The ginkgo forest grows at altitudes between 1,300 and 1,600 meters above sea level, covering a mixed afforestation area of 50 hectares that includes ginkgo trees, making it the largest ginkgo plantation in Taiwan. Future facilities of the trail will include a 325-meter Ginkgo Trail, two rest platforms, and a 92-meter connecting trail. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery, visitors can also visit the tea plantation for tea tasting and take in the sweeping mountain vistas.
