Visitor limit reduced — Sandimen end of Pingtung’s “Shanchuan Liuli Suspension Bridge” to close for 3 months

Dubbed the “Most Beautiful Smiling Skyline,” the Shanchuan Liuli Suspension Bridge is one of Pingtung’s hottest tourist attractions. This stunning bridge spanning the valley draws large crowds of visitors. Since opening to fee-based admission last April, it has remained extremely popular. To maintain and enhance the recreational quality of the bridge, the Pingtung County Government will close the Sandimen end from October for three months. In the future, visitors will only be able to enter from the Majia end.

The Shanchuan Liuli Suspension Bridge in Pingtung is 262 meters long and about 45 meters above the ground. For safety reasons, it can accommodate a maximum of 100 people at a time, and daily visitor quotas are enforced. From October to December 31, the county government will carry out greenway beautification and maintenance work on the footpath, during which the Sandimen end of the bridge will be closed. To ensure the quality of visitors’ experience, the daily number of people allowed on the bridge will be reduced during the construction period—from 5,600 on weekdays to 3,500, and from 6,400 on holidays to 4,000. The bridge’s reservation system has also been adjusted starting today (the 1st).

Admission: NT$50 for adults, NT$40 for discounted tickets, NT$30 for special concession tickets; children under 6 years old (inclusive) are free. Children aged 7 to 12, seniors over 65 (or over 55 for Indigenous people), and Pingtung residents can purchase special concession tickets for NT$30 each upon presenting ID. Group reservations are NT$40 per person for discounted tickets.
