Is Taiwan’s Tim Ho Wan a knockoff? Founder Mak Kwai Pui issues official statement: flavors in Taiwan and Hong Kong are the same

Since the opening of the Hong Kong-based affordable Michelin restaurant “Tim Ho Wan” in Taiwan, it has seen long queues every day and can be considered one of the hottest restaurants at the moment. However, a well-known food blogger named Mi’er recently criticized Taiwan’s Tim Ho Wan for being inauthentic, claiming there is a noticeable difference compared to the original branch in Mong Kok, Hong Kong, even going as far as calling it a “knockoff version,” sparking controversy. In response, Tim Ho Wan Taiwan, the sole agent of Tim Ho Wan in Taiwan, issued a stern statement on the 10th:“Taiwan’s Tim Ho Wan is legally authorized through the official Singapore master franchise, and such claims are seriously inconsistent with the facts.”

Tim Ho Wan Taiwan expressed strong dissatisfaction with the behavior of the individuals involved in this incident.
