A business hotel that feels most like a backpacker’s lodging — Capital Songshan New Branch offers views of Taipei 101

The Capital Hotels Group, known for its brand image as a chain of business hotels, officially opened its Songshan Branch on January 15 as its fifth location. In addition to its prime location near the train station, MRT station, and Raohe Night Market, the new branch incorporates distinctly different elements. Upon entering the lobby, guests are welcomed by a sleek and stylish reception area, giving a strong sense of what Chairman Chen Zongxing describes as“the backpacker vibe.”To the right is the dining area, which extends all the way to the back of the building, and the fresh feel of the new hotel goes without saying.

Unlike other branches, the design of the Capital Hotel Songshan Branch features gray tones in the corridors, maintaining the style of a modern urban hotel. Unless you already know it’s a hotel, you might easily mistake it for a high-end city apartment.

“Small but well-equipped” — aside from a small gym, the hotel stays true to its “business” nature by offering two fully functional business meeting centers for guests with work needs. Although the hotel provides laundry services, there is also a self-service laundry space on the public floor.The most impressive feature is the sky garden on the 10th floor — an open-air space offering views of Taipei 101, which also extends its opening hours during New Year’s Eve and special holidays.

For accommodation, the Songshan Branch offers five room types: Scenic Room, Lebo Room, Shubo Room, Yayue Room, and Simple Room, totaling 123 suites. The Simple Room and Yayue Room are compact at 7 and 7.5 ping respectively, but the Yayue Room makes the most of the view of Taipei 101 with a small private balcony, allowing the scenery to spill into the room even in a smaller suite.

The Lebo and Shubo Rooms are slightly larger at 8–9 ping, featuring the same minimalist style combined with earth-tone wooden decor and furniture, reflecting modern taste. For those seeking a bit more space, the Scenic Room spans 13 ping and comes with a personal outdoor terrace, also offering views of Taipei 101. The bathroom is thoughtfully designed with dual sinks and a soaking tub, perfectly balancing comfort and convenience for guests.
