On the second day of the TransAsia Airways plane crash, the first batch of personnel from Xiamen Tourism Bureau in mainland China’s Fujian Province and local travel agencies arrived in Taiwan in the morning. In the afternoon, the first group of families of the mainland tourists also arrived, and under the arrangement of the travel agencies, they successively went to hospitals and the funeral parlor to be reunited with their loved ones.

To obtain the most complete information, the Xiamen Tourism Bureau team headed straight to the Straits Tourism Association after landing and held an emergency meeting with representatives from TransAsia Airways, the Travel Quality Assurance Association of the Republic of China, and the Travel Agent Association.

Man Hongwei, Director of the STA Taipei Office, stated that after this visit by mainland government officials to Taiwan, initial discussions have been held with Taiwanese representatives regarding follow-up search and rescue operations, visiting the injured and deceased, as well as insurance claims. They will also assist families in visiting the affected tourists.

Man Hongwei said that the STA is a tourism promotion and exchange agency established by mainland China in Taiwan. Following the regrettable TransAsia air crash, the STA will provide immediate and full assistance, offering comfort to travelers and their families. After the arrival of the first group of families, Taiwan-based local receiving travel agencies and TransAsia Airways staff will assist in visiting the families. STA Secretary-General Liu Kechih has also flown from Beijing to Taiwan. Once Liu arrives, he will visit the STA to understand the situation and assist in handling the follow-up matters.
