The 115-Year-Old Tainan Governor's Residence Reopens with 3D Art in Weimin Street Underpass

The 115-year-old "Tainan Governor's Residence" has been reimagined with a fresh new look developed by Kaoching Development, the same team behind the iconic "Lín Department Store." It reopened on the 8th, and the Weimin Street underpass, which connects to the residence, has also been revamped. The first-floor space features the "1900" café, alongside a cultural and creative goods store, bookstore, and other offerings, providing a unique arts and culture venue.

The "Weimin Street Underpass" inside the Governor's Residence has been transformed into a "Time Tunnel," featuring 3D murals of old Tainan street scenes and sika deer, created by artist Chang Hsin-Pi and his mural team. The first floor of the residence is designed as the "Residence Time" area, while the second floor serves as a "Knowledge Salon." The high-ching-owned "1900" café on the first floor combines a cultural and creative goods store, bookstore, and workshop. Additionally, Brev Bread has set up shop in the residence, offering limited-edition bread flavors. To connect with customers of Lín Department Store, the Governor's Residence has also designed Taisho-era "vintage bicycles." Visitors can ride the red bikes around Tainan for a nostalgic trip.
