Order everything on the menu for under 300 NT dollars — affordable oden without MSG!

Nothing beats a warm bowl of soup in winter. Yilan doesn’t seem to have any dedicated oden shops — they’re usually found as part of Japanese restaurants. The popular Little Kite Ice Cream (fewer people eat ice cream in winter), which we introduced before, has specially developed oden to let residents of rainy winter Yilan enjoy some hot food. Of course, they still serve ice cream too — those unafraid of the cold can still enjoy that!!

You can watch trains pass by while sitting in the shop!!!

Such reasonable prices, right!!!

In Taiwan, the oden you usually find is mostly from convenience stores. The broth is made with soup powder — not that it’s bad, but freshly made broth would probably be even better!

Besides the regular broth, there’s also a spicy version — it’s like an oden hot pot with both mild and spicy options!!!

Since it’s originally an ice cream shop, there are seats where you can sit and eat!!

Right across from the shop is the Dongshan Railway Station, a favorite spot for photos. You can sit in the shop eating while watching trains go by — it’s quite fun. If the seating were just a bit higher, it could turn into a train-themed restaurant.

I ordered randomly, haha, pretty much went through the whole menu!! Here you can boldly say, “Bring me everything on the menu!!!!” Because the total price for all the items on the menu is 295 NT dollars, haha (of course, you can only have one of each). For four adults and four kids to eat for 295 NT dollars, isn’t that great!!

Radish

The quality of oden really comes down to the broth. The broth here is a bit lighter and not too heavy on flavor, especially compared to convenience store versions. But since it’s homemade and MSG-free, it feels a bit easier on the stomach~

The sweet radish with dipping sauce is absolutely delicious!!

The homemade mixed noodles and spicy mixed noodles here are also good — with minced pork and dried tofu, it’s a bit like zhajiangmian (noodles with soybean paste)!!

It’s also great drizzled over blanched greens as a sauce — really versatile!! Actually, it’s also great for mixing with rice.

Seeing the kids eat happily makes the adults happy too.

The little bagel is enjoyed with great relish!!! Don’t underestimate him — he’s only three years old, and if it’s not tasty, he won’t even open his mouth!

When it comes to food, my little sister certainly doesn’t fall behind～

Ah~~~ So delicious I forgot myself!! Closing my eyes to fully enjoy the food.

In the cold winter, the sweet broth and simple food bring us full warmth and energy!

Had a nice afternoon tea and now have the energy to go out and play.
