Universal Studios Japan’s “Universal Wonderland” Adds New Attractions; Giant Snowboard Rides to Scream About

Universal Studios Japan’s “Universal Wonderland” has added new rides and undergone a major update across the entire area. It will reopen on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, with the concept of a neighborhood where global cartoon characters such as Elmo, Snoopy, and Hello Kitty live. It is a family-friendly zone featuring over 30 parent-child entertainment options.

The newly revamped “Universal Wonderland” has specially added “Elmo’s GOGO Snowboarding” and “Moeby’s Balloon Ride” as part of its update. In addition to existing popular rides such as “Flying Snoopy,” “Hello Kitty Dream Cup,” and “Elmo’s Bubble Voyage,” the “Surprise Party” experience has also been introduced.

“Elmo’s GOGO Snowboarding” is a ride-based attraction themed around Elmo’s favorite snowboard. Riding a giant snowboard together with Elmo offers an intense sense of presence and speed that will make you scream. “Moeby’s Balloon Ride” is a ride-based attraction where Moeby treats guests to a joyful balloon journey. Guests ride on adorable balloons painted by Sesame Street friends, soaring high above while looking down at a vast fairy-tale world below.

Additionally, the brand-new street performance “Surprise Party!” will feature Elmo, Snoopy, and Hello Kitty appearing simultaneously in their respective areas. When familiar music plays, parents can take their children’s hands and join the circle formed by the cartoon characters to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
