Sweet soup shop at Luodong Night Market: Eight-Treasure Soup made with premium Dajia taro

The most frequent night market I visit in Yilan is always Luodong Night Market. Each time, there are new stalls and popular delicacies. This time, upon the recommendation of Brother Zhang, our group came to Park No. 20 to enjoy some desserts.

In the bustling night market, there aren’t many places to sit down and relax. Before, we would usually buy the treats to enjoy back at the homestay. Of course, you can also sit in the nearby park, but having comfortable seating at the shop is definitely the best. It’s a great place to rest when you’re tired from strolling around.

When we arrived that day, the staff were very welcoming, and there were quite a few customers both dining in and taking out. The employees were all very busy.

There were eight different toppings displayed in front of us—so tempting that we couldn’t decide which to choose. So, we went for the Eight-Treasure Sweet Soup to get a bit of everything. Haha！

The interior decoration has a nice ambiance, like a stylish spot operating within the night market, with a hint of literary and artistic flair. They’re also currently running a promotion where buying a sweet soup gives you a chance to win an iPhone 6 Plus 128GB. Get one lottery ticket for every two cups purchased. The promotion ends at 8 PM on March 29.

The shop only offers four types of desserts, with both cold and hot options available:

Eight-Treasure Sweet Soup – NT$55
Grass Jelly (choose any 4 toppings) – NT$45
Grass Jelly Pudding (choose any 4 toppings) – NT$45
Red Bean Soup (choose any 3 toppings) – NT$45

A friend chose different flavors of dessert. The pudding here is made with dairy cream, and the grass jelly has a very tender texture. You can choose four favorite toppings. I thought the taro here was especially delicious—it's Dajia taro, with a soft yet slightly firm bite.

Greedily wanting to try all the toppings, I opted for the Eight-Treasure Sweet Soup so I could have a bit of everything. I particularly liked the black rice and the taro. I wonder if they’ll offer black rice porridge in the future? If you want to sit down and enjoy a bowl of sweet soup at Luodong Night Market, I think Park No. 20 is a great choice.
