Grand Reopening! A Star-Rated Hotel in Chiayi with Bird's Nests Visible in Guest Rooms for Over 25 Years

There's a new hotel option to consider when visiting Chiayi. Zhào Pǐn Hotel Chiayi was fully closed for renovation in July 2014. After six months of refurbishment, the hotel reopened earlier this year (2015) with a design concept inspired by the Alishan Forest, a signature feature of Chiayi. The renovation added 11 Japanese-style rooms and introduced the group’s wedding banquet brand “Yiping,” offering wedding and banquet services in Chiayi City. The hotel also preserves a large number of bird's nests that have been built for over 25 years. Guests staying in the rooms can get an up-close view of the nests—an experience well worth visiting for.

Formerly known as the Chiayi Chung Hsin Hotel, which had been in operation since 1999 and was upgraded and renamed Zhào Pǐn Hotel Chiayi in 2009, the hotel has a 15-year history. To adapt to urban development plans, highlight local characteristics, and accommodate the growing number of tourists, the hotel debuted in 2015 with a brand-new style. The lobby combines modern sleek lines with retro mirrored surfaces, and the first-floor Café offers a variety of complimentary drinks and candies for guests. The newly built “Yiping Banquet Hall” on the second floor features an antique mirror ceiling design that conveys a classical European ambiance.

The hotel has 10 floors and offers 10 room types. The newly built guest rooms have expanded from the original 171 to 185 refined suites. Notably, there are only 11 newly added Japanese-style rooms—each a one-bedroom, one-living-room suite, available in sizes of 11 ping and 20 ping. The rooms feature extensive earth-tone décor, with wood-textured tiles replacing common white flooring, and tree motifs extended to the balcony and latticework to create a forest atmosphere in the urban setting. In addition, to showcase the unique Alishan characteristics of Chiayi, the hotel incorporates tea ceremony culture, setting up tea stations within the premises and occasionally offering Happy Hour sessions where guests can enjoy tea brewing. Guests staying in Japanese-style rooms are welcomed with Alishan tea.
