The independent donut brand “Nomad Donuts” opened a new store in September this year in North Park, San Diego. Noteworthy are its various unique flavors, such as honey-mint, raspberry cheesecake passionfruit jam, and more.
The founder of Nomad Donuts, Brad Keiller, stated onLonely Planetthat the concept of the donuts is rooted in travel, which is why the flavors are inspired by the world. His partner is a Michelin three-star pastry chef. Exotic cuisines serve as inspiration for the donut flavors—for example, after eating Korean BBQ, they developed a honey-sesame-ginger flavor topped with kimchi bacon. There are also multi-layered flavor donuts like white chocolate mint paired with green bell pepper shreds. Each donut is a journey of taste.

“We want international flavors,” the founder said, explaining this is the original vision of Nomad Donuts. The shop’s creations use special preparation methods—for instance, the hearth-baked bagel is boiled in honey water, then coated with honey before being baked in the oven.
Nomad Donuts is also currently working hard to collaborate with local independent breweries in San Diego, hoping to launch creative pairings of donuts with beer.
