Discover the sea around the corner: Penghu’s three secret cycling routes with free, expert-guided rides

As April ushers in the peak tourist season in Penghu, the local area has been actively promoting low-carbon tourism in recent years and offers a complimentary guided cycling service. Since April 1, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration has collaborated with the bicycle association to lead visitors through three of Penghu’s most beautiful routes, allowing them to experience the island’s scenery at a leisurely pace of 20 kilometers per hour.

“Driving is too fast, walking is too slow—cycling is just right.”The Penghu Administration began planning the island’s secret cycling routes two years ago. This year, it has added a new 15-kilometer route called the “Makung – Romantic & Cultural Secret Path,” along with the existing 55-kilometer “Pengnan & Huxi – Golden Coast Secret Exploration Route” and the 88-kilometer “Baisha & Siyu – Blue Sea & Fire Beacon Secret Exploration Route,” hoping to invite travelers to revisit Penghu’s beauty by bike.

The Penghu Administration stated that the free yet professional guide riders not only lead the tours but also serve as knowledgeable guides, introducing various aspects of Penghu. Travelers can deeply experience the charm of the island’s villages, coastal areas, and pastoral landscapes through a slow-paced cycling journey.
