In the vibrant month of April, besides the tung blossoms, the equally picturesque albizia flowers — also known as the "April Snow" — begin to bloom. The Taipei City Department of Parks and Recreation has compiled a list of 6 beautiful albizia viewing areas where visitors can take a moment to pause and look up to enjoy this breathtaking "April Snow on Earth."
The albizia tree is native to northern Taiwan, particularly around Jiabanshan, the southern reaches of the Dahan River in Taoyuan, and the Linkou Plateau. Its slender, gracefully drooping, inverted-lanceolate flower segments resemble decorative tassels, hence its name. Thriving in subtropical and temperate climates, the albizia is a popular ornamental tree in gardens and is in full bloom every March and April.
The Taipei City Department of Parks and Recreation notes that there are 7 stunning albizia viewing spots in the city:
1. Neihu Bihu Park

3. Da’an Forest Park
4. National Taiwan University

Especially in early April, the grand albizia tree near the memorial monument in 228 Peace Memorial Park puts on a spectacular full-bloom display that captivates visitors, making it a seasonal landmark in Taipei.
Beyond Taipei, there are also numerous spots across Taiwan where you can admire the beauty of April Snow, such as the large lawn at Shimen Reservoir in Taoyuan, the albizia garden in Hutou Mountain Scenic Area, and the Longtan Northern District Water Resources Bureau; as well as the Liming New Village in Taichung, the National Museum of Natural Science, the area near the first Taichung service station of the National Immigration Agency, and beside the Central Taiwan Service Office of the Straits Exchange Foundation — all excellent destinations for albizia flower viewing.
