Kaohsiung City Light Gallery Reopens: Glowing Giraffe Combines with 3D Landscape Effects

Kaohsiung City Light Gallery Reopens: The entire stretch of the Kaohsiung City Light Gallery has been revitalized, transforming a linear space adjacent to Zhonghua Road, Wufu Road, and Zhongshan Road. The new look integrates 3D landscapes, wall art, lightweight membrane structures, art walkways, and nighttime light installations.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu stated that 10 years ago, the "City Light Gallery" ignited a wave of spatial transformation. By connecting idle spaces through the commercial district, it spurred an urban aesthetic movement, redefined the concept of parks, and made Kaohsiung’s nights more beautiful, becoming one of the city’s iconic attractions. Located in the tree-surrounded central plaza, the 3.6-meter-tall giraffe made of stainless steel appears by day as if it is nibbling leaves, but at night transforms into a glowing giraffe. Alongside it are 15 artistic landscape works including related three-dimensional carvings, wall art, and ground installations.

Additionally, the curvature of the road is visually presented through 3D ground art. It may not look remarkable to the naked eye, but through the lens of a camera or smartphone, when following the visual angle with the highest density of curved lines, the road appears to have a large pothole. A few steps further, it seems to rise into a hill, creating the illusion of an uneven surface and adding an interactive touch of fun. The various artworks are clearly visible during the day, and when illuminated in the evening along with the revamped lamp posts and changing building lights, they showcase the all-new appearance of the City Light Gallery.
