Perfect Score, I Love ItHualienBecause you can see mountains and the sea everywhere, it feels like you’re on vacation abroad even though you’re still in Taiwan. On this trip to eastern Taiwan, our first stop was Chin Bu Zhi Zi Cliff. There’s a parking lot at the site ($50 per vehicle), and there are also staff at the entrance to guide visitors. As soon as we got out of the car, we saw the blue sea and smelled the salty sea breeze—we knew we had arrived. Excited. Let’s go.

The weather was unbearably hot that day, but Perfect Score still insisted on taking photos with the sea. Summer in Hualien is just so charming—you can feel the energy and vitality everywhere.

Following the main road, we arrived at the Xinji Tunnel. At the entrance, there’s a stall selling tickets for the Maritime Ancient Path, though it looked rather simple.
Ticket price: $40 per person, redeemable for purchases inside the venue.

What attracted Perfect Score the most about walking along the path was the view of the ocean. No need for Perfect Score to say more—you can feel the beauty just by looking at the photos. Even though the weather was hot, the wind and waves were quite strong.
Being able to enjoy the scenery and the breeze on the walkway is also a wonderful experience.

There were quite a few tourists visiting that day. The glass walkway is built right next to the mountain cliffs, and the pathway is very narrow, so it gets quite crowded when there are many people. Many visitors wanted to take photos with the sea here. The view outside is so beautiful it’s hard to put into words—the blue sky and sea blend seamlessly into one, an absolutely gorgeous sight. Seeing such a view, don’t you think Taiwan is truly a treasure island?

The mountain cliffs are quite solid, with one section particularly protruding. When walking, taller friends should be especially cautious. Underneath the glass walkway, some branches and weeds have actually grown—it’s nothing like what netizens said about being able to see the seawater below. Of course, it doesn’t feel scary either. Both adults and children will have no problem walking here.

The scenery is so beautiful that even though the walkway isn’t long, Perfect Score still wanted to stay and relax for a while. With arms outstretched, it felt like you could embrace the sea. If there weren’t so many people, Perfect Score would’ve loved to shout toward the sea, “Where are you~ I miss you so much.”

Following the walkway, you’ll return to the other exit of the Xinji Tunnel. From ground level, the walkway is actually built halfway up the mountain, but it allows you to get closer to the sea, which feels pretty nice. However, the glass walkway is really short, and you might feel a bit let down once you finish walking it.

After descending the stairs, you can take beautiful photos with the blue sea—Perfect Score’s favorite. The addition of blue railings not only enhances the aesthetics but also improves safety. Legend has it that a Tayal woman carrying her child across the cliff, in her panic, climbed over the cliff and only realized her child was missing after reaching the other side. That’s why the skywalk is called “Chin Bu Zhi Zi Cliff” (literally “Parent Doesn’t Know Child Cliff”).

After leaving the skywalk, head toward the Xinji Tunnel. The decorations inside the tunnel are also quite colorful, with three-dimensional indigenous art on the walls depicting lively tribal festivals.
The strong chest and arm muscles further showcase their power and beauty.

There are also some stalls inside the Xinji Tunnel offering indigenous snacks, drinks, ice cream, and more... The ticket price can also be used as credit for purchases. However, the temperature inside the tunnel is still quite high.
At best, it provides a bit of shade for travelers to rest under.

That day, we spent less than an hour at the skywalk. Walking across the glass bridge and admiring the azure Pacific Ocean, the coastal scenery is undoubtedly beautiful. But—it’s really not very big, and it feels like it’s not yet fully completed. There are only a few vendor stalls, making it a bit monotonous. Locals mentioned that there will be future expansion projects. Maybe in the future, you’ll be able to enjoy even more diverse views. Hualien’s newest seaside secret spot—Chin Bu Zhi Zi Cliff.
