Taichung’s Taiping Pinglin Forest Park Opens! An Eco-Flood Retention Green City Oasis

Taichung’s first large-scale, multifunctional park in the Taiping District that combines ecological flood retention and forest recreation“Pinglin Forest Park”Officially opened on April 21. Covering an area of 11.7 hectares, in addition to preserving a pristine forest park and ecological flood retention basins, it also features a multifunctional art performance hall, offering the public a more diverse leisure space.

Pinglin Forest Park was originally part of the military Pinglin Barracks. In recent years, due to the streamlining of Taiwan’s military and reduced operational demands, the land has been transformed into a multifunctional eco-park. The park includes ecological flood retention basins, lakeside walking trails, waterfront wooden boardwalks, outdoor performance areas, and children’s play zones, suitable for various events such as exhibitions, gatherings, and concerts. With diverse landscaping designs, 695 native trees have been preserved, along with plants such as Taiwan cherry blossoms, bald cypress, and golden rain trees, making Taichung a model green city.
