Zhizhi Lake Glutinous Rice Bridge — just three minutes from the campsite

When approaching kilometer 110 on Provincial Highway 3, please keep right

Turn right at the bridgehead around kilometer 109.3 on Provincial Highway 3

Follow the riverside road for about 250 meters to reach Daping Left Bank Campsite

This week has makeup workdays and classes — the campsite owner says pick whichever you like

Area A (large) grassland — very flat, L-shaped

Grass areas are probably the better choice, right?

Take a closer look, and you’ll notice the turf is different from that of regular campsites.

It turns out the campsite owner has been planting it little by little with grass seedlings over the past one or two years (native Taiwanese species).

Patiently wait for the moon to rise over the grand scenery.

Area A – Large Grass Field: 6 water troughs (with power outlets above them).

There’s also a stone table under the tree in the corner.

Basically, the ground of the grassy area is covered with gravel, which drains very quickly.

The inner areas get less morning sun (sunlight only until around 10:30 AM).

Large Grass Area (Small Section):

It’s also very flat, and the smaller camping zones are fantastic.

This area is perfect for family camping zones, with a splash pool and sandbox nearby.

This time, Little Di set up a new daytime tent and was quite satisfied (it can be set up by one person too).

Camping—just keep it simple and convenient.

The moonrise over Shitan and the fairy mountain cloudscape are ever-changing.

Pallet & Tree Area B (vehicle access for unloading gear):

It gets almost no sun all day—pretty awesome (short sunlight exposure).

The campsite also rents out equipment (great for beginners), with tents going for about 400 NT each.

You can set up a living room tent at the front (not suitable for tunnel tents).

There are 2 water troughs, along with electric lights and safe power supply.

The best spots at the campsite right now are these few (this area is only suitable for regular tents).

There are also two large living room tents at the far end—please inquire with the campsite management for use.

My absolute favorite part of camping—the moonlit nights. How about you?

The last zone, Riverside Forest Area C:

All camping spots are on wooden pallets, with about 8 spots in total.

This area will probably become the most popular—it’s great to have trees around.

The freshness near the riverside is truly a perfect 100, with an abundance of phytoncides.

Down below, the cool and clear waters of the Shitan River are perfect for soaking your feet.

It’s also a paradise for fishing enthusiasts—you really have to try fishing here.

There’s also a hidden fishing deck behind the campsite (camping not allowed).

A great spot for brewing tea and fishing (you can fish right from the platform)

The most important five-star washroom area:

Both the women’s and men’s restrooms have vanity desks and chairs outside, with hairdryers provided

Bright and vibrant colors create a relaxing atmosphere (women’s restroom)

All-wooden women’s restroom — clean and tidy

Each stall has its own water heater (it’s recommended to also provide buckets and dippers for family use)

The men’s restroom features a large image of the Taiwan blue magpie, making the space bright and fresh

Male-exclusive area thoughtfully includes mosquito coils

Toilet paper is provided in the restrooms — please make good use of it

This time in Shitan, we naturally took a stroll along the area’s most famous Zhuhu Ancient Trail

The trail entrance is right at the local glutinous rice bridge

Beneath the bridge, the stream flows gently with an abundant fish population and rich ecology

There are rest areas along the trail (a pavilion is not far from the entrance)

The surrounding ecology is fantastic, with likely sightings of many fireflies in April and May

A bamboo forest hidden gem — leisurely exploring the ancient trail is incredibly relaxing

The ancient trail isn’t long; the other end (which requires crossing a river) leads to kilometer 108.2 on Provincial Highway 3

Just wandering without a set goal and observing carefully — that’s the feeling I love
