Don’t want to deal with the crowds during the holiday? Consider heading up the mountain to unwind. Easily accessible by public transport, Maokong is a great place to get some fresh air in Taipei. With a century-long thriving tea industry, the area boasts a rich tea culture, and its vast tea plantations are one of its defining features. The neighborhood is also home to numerous teahouses and cafés—just pick one, sit down, and enjoy the scenery of lush green mountains all around you.

In addition, take the Maokong Gondola to Maokong Station. Just a five-minute walk from the station, you’ll reach the Camphor Tree Trail, which offers beautiful scenery and is perfect for a leisurely stroll. If you’re up for more, continue on to the Camphor Lake Trail, known as the “Avenue of Natural Rhythms,” where you can enjoy the sounds of nature and the rustic charm of the countryside. Slow down, take in the sights, snap some photos, and immerse yourself in the fresh air away from the hustle and bustle.
