Don’t miss out on a short trip during the four-day Double Ten long weekend. The Pingtung County Government Tourism and Communications Department has recommended five travel routes, ensuring that whether you’re an Instagrammer who loves snapping photos or a culture-loving hipster seeking art, you’ll enjoy a relaxing and delightful slow-paced holiday in southern Taiwan.

1. Must-visit Photo Spots for Influencers

The century-old Gao-Ping Old Iron Bridge, also known as the Dashu Old Iron Bridge, is located within the Dashu Old Iron Bridge Wetland Education Park. It is the only iron bridge in Taiwan designated as a national historic site and is classified as a second-class historic site in the Taiwan-Mainland region. Although it’s no longer in use, it remains the most beautiful rainbow over the Gaoping River. The contrast between the pure white bridge and the setting sun creates a stunning view, making it a popular photo spot for influencers.

2. Pingtung’s Most Popular Photo Spots

Ten of the “most” popular photo spots are all fun and photogenic, including the most “speedy” Fangshan Post Office colorful utility box, the most “colorful” Mudan Elementary School rainbow campus, the most “trendy” Gao-Ping Old Iron Bridge, the most “luxurious” Taiwu Bicycle Station, Pingtung’s million-dollar night view, the most “lofty” Wutai Presbyterian Church, the most “youthful” Youth Innovation Hub, the most “divine” Bible Museum, the most “art-filled” Linali Tribe, and the most “heartwarming” murals at Taishan Elementary School / Plains Indigenous mother and child, as well as the most “refreshing” Sulin Tree-lined Boulevard in Chaozhou.

3. Art-Loving Hipsters Explore Art

Ten installations that blend military dependents’ village history and culture will make you want to keep snapping photos. Artists’ creations connect the past and future, developing new ideas from the atmosphere of bygone eras, with each piece reflecting a sense of historical change. The installations are scattered around the alleys near General’s House on Qingdao Street in Pingtung City, with the exhibition running from October this year to February next year.

4. Go Wild Outdoors This Summer

Jialeshui in Manzhou Township is a famous surfing destination on the Hengchun Peninsula and has been included as one of the stops on the ASC Asian Tour. This year’s surfing carnival runs from October 7 to 9 at Jialeshui Fishing Village Park, featuring competitions by top surfers from both home and abroad. The event promises thrilling matches, plus water activities and local creative markets to explore.

5. Shan Chuan Glass Suspension Bridge

Known as the “Most Beautiful Smiling Skyline,” the Shan Chuan Glass Suspension Bridge is one of Pingtung’s hottest tourist attractions. Standing between the valley walls and taking in the breathtaking scenery is an exhilarating experience, drawing large crowds of visitors. Since its trial opening, it has consistently drawn high numbers of tourists. However, to maintain the bridge’s quality, the Pingtung County Government closed the Sandimen end of the bridge for three months starting in October. Visitors should note that access is currently only available from the Majia end.
