“Everybody wants to be happy, my joy is higher than the sky.” Whenever Doraemon (formerly known as Doraemon in Chinese) is around, Nobita’s troubles vanish—“whatever you wish for, you shall receive!” In reality, the robotic cat Doraemon is still 92 years away from being invented, but in Da Lat City, Vietnam, Da Ung Town has been built, faithfully recreating Nobita’s home and the surrounding neighborhood, even including the kids’ secret hangout spot—the pipe courtyard—making it a new hotspot for local Instagram-worthy photos.

▲ The pipe courtyard often becomes Gian’s personal performance stage.

Da Ung Town isn’t just about looks—it’s not just a bunch of randomly built Japanese-style small houses. Step inside any of the houses, and you’ll find the interior décor is equally meticulous. Whether it’s the doors, balconies, walls, or even the color schemes, every detail is carefully selected to match the scenes from the anime as closely as possible. Even the backyards and small pathways outside the houses are exquisitely decorated. In today’s lingo, it’s a “flawless recreation.”

▲ Aside from the bamboo-copter, the Anywhere Door is probably the second most-used Doraemon gadget.

Another must-see highlight is Nobita’s bedroom. From Doraemon’s sleeping closet, Nobita’s desk, to the rooftop visible through the study window (where Doraemon dates other cats), every corner brings the scenes from Fujiko F. Fujio’s manga to life. However, fans might be slightly disappointed to find no time machine in the desk drawer.

Da Lat City is located in Lam Dong Province in southern Vietnam. With an altitude of 1,500 meters, its climate is cooler compared to other parts of Vietnam, making it a relatively popular tourist destination. As for Da Ung Town, it is situated in the eastern suburbs of Da Lat City and is actually a tourism facility that combines homestays with a café. The homestay features a design that blends Japanese and Western styles, offering room types for 2 to 4 people. The 2-person rooms start at HK$117 per night. For more details, check their official Facebook page (for information) and the Da Lat City tourism website (for bookings).
