Due to the influence of a strong continental cold air mass and radiative cooling, temperatures will drop significantly late Saturday night. From Sunday evening on the 12th to Tuesday early morning on the 14th, areas north of central Taiwan and the northeastern region will see notably low temperatures, with a probability of temperatures falling below 10°C. From Sunday evening to Monday morning, there is a probability of sub-10°C temperatures (yellow alert) in eight counties/cities—please stay vigilant.

Cold zones from Sunday night to Monday morning on the 13th:

[Yellow Alert (Cold)]

Keelung City, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, and Yilan County have a probability of temperatures dropping below 10°C—please take extra care to keep warm.

As the continental cold air mass moves southward, localized brief showers are expected in eastern and mountainous regions of western Taiwan, while northern areas will see cloudy skies after localized brief showers. Other regions, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will be mostly cloudy. On Monday the 13th, most of Taiwan, along with Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will be mostly sunny to cloudy, with only scattered brief showers in the eastern and southeastern regions.

Starting Wednesday the 15th, the continental cold air mass will weaken, and daytime temperatures will gradually rise. However, due to radiative cooling in the early morning, temperatures will remain on the low side. From the 15th to the 18th, localized brief showers are expected in the eastern and northern mountainous regions, while other areas will be mostly cloudy to sunny.

As we step into spring, weather changes rapidly—stay alert to shifts, mind warmth, and watch for day-night temperature differences. When using gas water heaters or electric heating appliances, ensure proper indoor ventilation and electrical safety. Be cautious of respiratory and cardiovascular issues caused by morning and evening chills. Don’t forget to check on the elderly, homeless individuals, and vulnerable groups regarding cold protection measures. Farmers and aquaculture operators should be wary of frost damage.
