The mysterious alien totems give off an otherworldly vibe, as if you can feel the energy of outer space. Not only do they look incredibly surreal in photos, but they also captivate you, making you eager to witness these breathtaking sights. Located in Dremi Art Park, Sandimen Township, Pingtung, there is a sacred large circular plaza adorned with indigenous totem designs, resembling the entrance to another realm.

Dremi Park is a memorial park celebrating indigenous culture. “Dremi” means Sandimen in the Paiwan language, and it also signifies the Paiwan people as descendants of the sun. It is one of the few indigenous parks in Taiwan.

The plaza is designed as a “stage of life” centered around Paiwan beliefs, shaped like the sun. It is the main venue for major celebrations in the township, including the Paiwan Harvest Festival, Austronesian weddings, Tung Blossom Festival flower viewings, and local ceremonies. It’s also a great spot to watch the sunset and colorful clouds.

The park welcomes visitors with iconic landmarks such as the stage of life, ancestral spirit pillars, and cooking hearths, each carrying unique and profound meanings. The ancestral spirit pillar symbolizes masculinity, representing the continuation of life and the transmission of blessings from ancestors and tribal prayers. The hearth symbolizes femininity, representing the continuity of life and the hope for daily abundance of food.
