Talking about Yilan’s famous specialties, many people take duck jerky as a souvenir. But there’s also a place in Yilan that not only sells duck jerky but is also a duck-raising farm called the “Duck Coop Story House.” Hundreds of ducks roam freely in the spacious outdoor area, waiting for visitors to feed them. There are also plenty of DIY experience activities, making it very suitable for family outings.

The “Duck Coop Story House” was created by renovating a 40-year-old duck coop that was damaged by a typhoon, preserving its history. The venue features five different activity zones, including an exhibition area that introduces various breeds of ducks and duck eggs, the process of making duck jerky, as well as the stories of duck farmers—covering duck farming culture and its evolution. Guided tours can also be reserved on-site.

The most popular outdoor interactive area is home to hundreds of ducks of different breeds, including Pekin ducks, Muscovy ducks, and mallards, all happily swimming in the grassy ponds. Feeding the ducks is also allowed—just hold out some duck feed, and the flock will rush toward you. Getting up close to so many adorable ducks makes you feel like a VIP.
