Taitung County has launched the “Low-Carbon Light Travel Green Island GO” campaign, integrating a local low-carbon industry alliance on Green Island to introduce low-carbon travel packages during the off-peak months of September and October. The initiative encourages visitors to explore Green Island via island-loop buses, bicycles, and on foot, and to bring their own utensils and toiletries. To promote and reward the concept of green travel, the county government will subsidize operators NT$400 per participant (limited to 2,000 people) during this period. Operators will then offer discounted package tours, with the lowest-priced regular two-day, one-night Green Island tour starting at just NT$4,190.

Uni Air operates three round-trip flights daily, with four flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It has also packaged an environmentally friendly Uni Holiday Green Island Low-Carbon Tour, available for groups of two, with a two-day, one-night stay starting at just NT$4,190 per person. The package includes round-trip flights from Taipei to Taitung, round-trip ferry tickets from Taitung to Green Island, accommodation, transfers between Taitung and Green Island ports, breakfast, and a complimentary 24-hour bicycle rental – even more cost-effective than purchasing discounted advance round-trip flight tickets alone for NT$4,100. Departure dates range from September 1 to October 31.

With the off-season and county subsidies, Mandarin Airlines offers a two-day, one-night Green Island? Lidi Island tour starting at NT$4,888. (Image provided by Moleskine Editorial Office)

Meanwhile, Mandarin Airlines has added three extra weekly flights from Taipei to Taitung starting September 1, increasing from the original two daily flights to three on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In line with the low-carbon initiative, from now until September 30, it has partnered with travel agencies such as Cola, Canaan Star, Lion, and Southeast to launch discounted two-day, one-night travel packages. These include market-low rates such as starting at NT$3,988 for Luming Hot Spring Hotel, NT$4,476 for Chihpen Royal Hotel, NT$4,888 for Taitung Naluwan, NT$5,388 for Rihbao Resort Hotel, and NT$4,888 for Green Island? Lidi Island.
