Blessed with a unique climate, Lishan offers spring flowers, summer fruits, autumn foliage, and winter snow — fun all year round. Especially from July to August during the peak heat, Lishan at an altitude of 2,000 meters is perfect for summer escape. This year’s “See Lishan Again·2012 Lishan Tourism Season” runs from now until October 28. During the event period, there will be free eco-guided tours, a highland music feast performed by the “Seven Wolves Police Band of Lishan,” and a photography exhibition titled “The Journey to Lishan” featuring works by renowned photographer Yu Rujì. The Lishan Hotel, which was severely damaged in the July 2, 2004 flood, will also reopen in October. Additionally, visitors who stay or spend in Lishan during the event period can participate in lucky draws for prizes such as double occupancy stay vouchers and Lishan tea gift boxes by presenting their receipts or invoices.

This Lishan Tourism Season focuses on the themes of the journey being the destination, a summer escape, and tasting fresh highland fruits and vegetables. From now until September 30, every Wednesday and Saturday, volunteers at the Lishan Visitor Center will offer free guided eco-tours, taking visitors to explore the ecology of the backcountry trails and admire the Lishan Hotel — one of Taiwan’s three palace-style buildings. Guided tours require advance registration and are available for groups of five or more. From September 10 to October 22, a “Fragrant Fruits of Lishan Two-Day Tour” will be launched in cooperation with travel agencies, departing every Monday, starting at NT$4,200.

The “See Lishan Again” concert, scheduled to take place from 15:00 to 17:00 on August 25 in front of the Lishan Hotel plaza, will kick off with lively performances of Atayal indigenous dances. The well-known “Seven Wolves Police Band of Lishan” and the ethereal “Unplugged Vocal Performance” will also deliver a musical feast. There will also be fun games, giving attendees the chance to take home fresh highland fruits.

From October to November, the Lishan Visitor Center will exhibit a curated selection of vintage photos titled “The Journey to Lishan” taken by renowned photographers such as Yu Rujì, looking back at Lishan’s scenery and history from half a century ago. On October 6, a Starlight Cinema event will be held in front of the Lishan Hotel plaza, screening the classic 1967 romantic film “Dawn in Lishan,” starring Ko Chun-hsiung and Chang Mei-yao, which captivated audiences nationwide.
