After the closure of Suan Lum Night Market a few years ago, Bangkok lost a place to shop at night markets, but now a new nighttime shopping mall has emerged — the riverside Asiatique Riverside Mall along the Chao Phraya River. This brand-new nightlife district boasts over 1,500 shops and 40 international restaurants, including bars and beer gardens, quickly becoming a popular attraction shortly after opening. The Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre, which was previously located in the city’s night market, had to shut down when the market closed, but it has found a new home at Asiatique. The spectacular Calypso Cabaret ladyboy show is also here.

Asiatique Riverside Mall was transformed from abandoned old port warehouses, which were once a bustling port area during the reign of King Rama V, thriving with teak trade between Thailand and the West and bustling with people of all ethnicities. To revive the old stories, Asiatique Riverside Mall presents itself as a “festival market and living museum,” giving a new life to long-abandoned warehouses through redesign while preserving their classic architectural features.

Asiatique Riverside Mall is divided into four themed zones. In the Charoen Krung zone, visitors can shop for souvenirs and home decor, with over 1,000 stores in the entire area. Parts of this zone house the Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre and the Calypso Cabaret ladyboy theatre. The Downtown zone, located at the heart of the project, mainly features outdoor activities, international restaurants, bars, and beer gardens. The Factory zone is characterized by a 100-year-old sawmill that now houses numerous shops, which have been redesigned to look very modern. The sawmill, located by the Chao Phraya River, contains over 500 fashion stores. The Riverside zone stretches 300 meters along the Chao Phraya River and offers views of the entire riverfront. This area focuses on international cuisine, including Japanese, Italian, Thai, Chinese, and seafood.

Asiatique Riverside Mall is open daily from 5:00 PM to midnight. It can be reached via Charoen Krung Road, with the mall located between Soi Charoen Krung 72 and 76. The parking lot can accommodate over 2,000 vehicles. Alternatively, you can take the BTS skytrain to Saphan Taksin Station and then transfer to a Chao Phraya River express boat or use the Asiatique ferry service to reach the mall directly.
