The Road To Mandalay luxury cruise’s New Year voyage runs from December 26, 2012, to January 2, 2013. Departing from the ancient city of Mandalay, it sails down Myanmar’s largest river—the Irrawaddy River—to the ancient capital of Bagan, home to over 2,000 temples. The journey offers several unique experiences, such as practicing yoga or meditation on the cruise’s top deck or at riverside pagodas at sunrise each day, admiring local tribal handicraft exhibitions on the upper deck, enjoying ancient indigenous music heritage, and visiting nearby historic temples.

In addition, travelers can deeply engage with local culture through traditional Myanmar ethnic costume performances and have the opportunity to witness the Ramayana (Yamayana) traditional drama, which vividly showcases local color. They may also observe novice ordination ceremonies at local temples, witnessing the first step boys take to become monks. On New Year’s Eve, guests will participate in a series of celebrations following dinner, commencing with sunset cocktails. Live band performances will accompany travelers with melodious tunes as they welcome the new year. For more details, visit the official website at www.orient-express.com.
