The Flower Expo Park at the end of 2012 was brimming with warmth. The Taipei City Government and the Taipei Exhibition & Convention Industry Development Foundation jointly held the “Floral Landscape Exhibition at the Flower Expo Park,” integrating three major events: the “2013 Taipei Flower Exhibition – Beauty Here? Yuanshan,” the “2012 Exhibition Hall Indoor Exquisite Floral Exhibition – Love in Taipei,” and the “2012 Flower Expo Park Outdoor Landscape Design Competition – Happy Taipei Show Garden.” These provided the public with a wonderful destination to enjoy a spectacular floral feast at the year’s end.

The 2013 Taipei Flower Exhibition – “Beauty Here? Yuanshan” simultaneously kicked off in the Yuanshan and Fine Arts Park areas of the Flower Expo Park as well as in 12 neighborhood parks. The exhibition runs from now until January 20, 2013 (Year 102 in the Republic of China calendar), spanning 30 days. Key exhibition zones include the “Yuanshan Happiness Station,” “Beautiful Yuanshan Station,” “Beautiful? Flower Sea? Setting Sail,” “Children’s Fun Zone,” “Starry Sky Station,” and “Yuanshan Art Station,” allowing visitors to reminisce about the beautiful memories of Yuanshan while enjoying the park. During the exhibition period, interactive activities such as a floral graffiti wall and photo opportunities with exhibition zones are available, with chances to win exquisite small gifts. Weekly performances include magic shows, live acoustic music, flower painting, and balloon twisting.

To welcome the arrival of 2013 and foster a sense of urban happiness, the Flower Expo has transformed the Exhibition Hall into a themed floral exhibition once again, with “Love in Taipei” as the design concept, extending the theme of “love” across 18 themed exhibitions. “Sunshine Dancers” opens with Taipei’s city bird, the Taiwan blue magpie, portrayed in three poses—standing, spreading its wings, flying, and soaring through the sky—to fully showcase Taipei’s continuous progress, radiating hope and vitality. “Pearl Shining Over the Bustling City” displays high-quality Phalaenopsis orchids that reflect both Taipei’s tradition and modernity. “Dreaming in a Fairyland” uses native Central and South American anthuriums combined with the sound of mist in the greenhouse, creating the illusion of stepping into a natural fairyland. “Floral Avenue – Winter Love” features scented candles decorated with thousands of colorful flowers, and an 18-panel exquisite pressed-flower floor clock showcases people from different time zones gathering joyfully in Taipei.

The “Flower Expo Park Outdoor Landscape Design Competition” selected 15 professional teams to advance after the initial design round. These include not only international professional designers and landscape planners, but also construction teams that have won awards in the national skills competition’s landscape gardening category over the years, as well as competing teams formed by university faculty and students. Utilizing a rich variety of local Taiwanese horticultural plants and flowers, along with exquisite landscaping craftsmanship, they showcased the livability and design aesthetics of healthy urban landscapes. The landscape design competition also invites the public to participate in voting for the People’s Choice Award starting now.
