Farewell to the delicate pink cherry blossoms and welcome the pure and refreshing Tung Blossom Festival. This year, the blooming period of tung blossoms has arrived about a month earlier than usual. Currently, the blossoms in Taitung have already reached full bloom, and it is expected that by mid-April, areas such as Dongshi in Greater Taichung, Guoxing in Nantou County, and Puli will also enter their peak blooming period, while late April will see the blossoms flourish in Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli. The ever-popular “2013 Hakka Tung Blossom Festival” has officially kicked off today. Until May 12, colorfully painted tung blossom trains and carriages will appear intermittently along the Western Trunk Line, bringing beautiful surprises to passengers. Additionally, during the April Tung Blossom Festival, special shuttle services will transport visitors to various festival venues, allowing everyone to admire the “April snow” of tung blossoms and experience the warm hospitality of Hakka villages firsthand.

This year, the Council for Hakka Affairs has expanded the series of Hakka Tung Blossom Festival events. A total of 68 townships and districts across 13 counties and cities, along with 147 organizations, are jointly organizing 2,678 diverse activities. Visitors can not only enjoy the romantic scenery of the “April snow” across different regions but also explore local Hakka industries, arts, music, dance, and a variety of other cultural activities, making it the most beautiful tung blossom holiday of 2013.

On April 13, the colorfully painted train will arrive at Taichung Railway Station, after which a shuttle will take passengers to Nantou’s Niuer Art Village. On April 21, the train will stop at Miaoli Railway Station, with a shuttle transporting guests to the Shangri-La Park Tung Blossom Opening Ceremony. By April 27, it will head to Hsinchu Railway Station, where a shuttle will take visitors to Beipu Old Street and Emei Lion Mountain Visitor Center. On April 28, the train will go to Taoyuan, followed by a shuttle to the Sankeng Bicycle Path and Sankeng Old Street. Each trip departs from Taipei Railway Station, with a limited quota of 240 seats per ride. The Council for Hakka Affairs will also prepare a mysterious small gift for passengers on the shuttle buses.
