Come to Chiayi for the Spring Festival: Enjoy Flowers and Birds in Alishan and Aoju Wetlands

During the Spring Festival, the Alishan National Scenic Area is in full bloom with mountain cherry blossoms, while pristine white calla lilies stand tall to welcome visitors—each year attracting numerous flower enthusiasts; another popular destination, the Aoju Wetland Forest Park in Dongshi Township, is highly suitable for birdwatching. The Alishan National Scenic Area operates 24 hours a day, while the Aoju Wetland Forest Park has also launched the “Turtle’s Journey: Life Goes On” wildlife conservation special exhibition. In coordination with the Spring Festival, free shuttle bus services and traffic control plans are implemented to ensure people can head out happily and return safely, fully enjoying the fun of visiting Alishan and Aoju Wetland.

Every year during the Spring Festival holiday, the Alishan National Scenic Area attracts a large number of visitors. To reduce parking time and avoid congestion within the park,the Chiayi Forest District Office has set up seven shuttle bus stops along the 89–95 km section of the road from the first to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year (February 19–23, 2015), providing free shuttle services to transport visitors to the main entrance of the scenic area between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.During the Spring Festival, in addition to temporarily designating parking spaces along the roadside of Provincial Highway 18 between kilometers 86 and 95 for cars and buses, 200 motorcycle parking spaces are also designated free of charge outside the main entrance of the scenic area. For traffic flow planning and safety considerations, motorcycles are completely restricted from entering the park during the Spring Festival.
