The Minions' charm sweeps Taiwan: Flagship stores open in Xinyi District one after another

Summer vacation is here, and cartoon characters are taking over Xinyi District in full force. With the highly anticipated spin-off film featuring the beloved Despicable Me sidekick, the Minions, set to hit theaters on July 9, Xinyi District’s Breeze Songgao Department Store kicked things off on July 1 by launching the first-ever Minions-themed flagship store “MINIONS STORE” in Northern Taiwan. Meanwhile, just a day later on July 2, Taiwan’s first Studio Ghibli flagship store, “Acorn Republic,” opened at ATT4FUN, also located in Xinyi District. The consecutive openings of these two popular cartoon character-themed stores have fans buzzing with excitement.

Capitalizing on summer vacation business opportunities, the most popular movie sidekick, the Minions, will officially premiere its spin-off film on July 9. In advance, Taiwan’s first Minions-themed flagship store, MINIONS STORE, opened on July 1 at Breeze Songgao Department Store. Covering an area of 15 ping (approximately 49.5 square meters), the store will primarily sell Minions-themed apparel, followed by accessories, toys, and stationery. On opening day, a spending promotion was launched: customers spending NT$3,000 or more in a single transaction will receive a Minions-shaped night light. Limited to 100 units, the offer is available while supplies last, and the news has already generated significant anticipation among fans. Additionally, the LINE STORE at Breeze Songgao is scheduled for renovation later this year.
