Yuzhu Peak, at an elevation of 6,187 meters
On April 25, the annual Yuzhu Peak Mountaineering Festival will officially kick off once again at Yuzhu Peak in Qinghai. Climbing enthusiasts from all over the country will gather here to enjoy the thrill of mountaineering and witness the majestic beauty of snow-capped mountains and glaciers.
This mountaineering festival is initiated and hosted by the Qinghai Mountaineering Association. As a strategic partner of the Yuzhu Peak Mountaineering Festival, KAILAS will provide equipment and technical support for the smooth running of the event, including clothing and high-altitude tents. A climbing team composed of KAILAS employees will also participate in this year’s festival. KAILAS will, as always, fully support the development of China's mountaineering and outdoor sports, including events like the Yuzhu Peak Mountaineering Festival.
Towering in central Qinghai, Yuzhu Peak—also known as Keke Sai Jimen Peak—is 6,178 meters above sea level and is the highest peak in the eastern section of the Kunlun Mountains. It is located 10 kilometers east of the Kunlun Mountain Pass, 160 kilometers south of Golmud. Since 2001, the Yuzhu Peak National Mountaineering Training Base has successfully hosted nine editions of the “China Yuzhu Peak Mountaineering Festival.” The distinctive topography and landscape of Yuzhu Peak are suitable for climbers of various levels. With year-round snow cover and extensive glaciers, the peak is both majestic and spectacular. There are more than 20 snow-capped peaks surrounding the main summit, all above 5,400 meters in elevation. For beginner climbers, the relatively easy southern slope route and the high-altitude experience offer an ideal introduction to mountaineering.
