The 2012 Gore-Tex?Outdoor Dream Realization Expedition saw the champion team of the professional mountaineering group, equipped by KOLON SPORT, led by their captain Kong Youlong, who was guiding his team to conquer a 6,252-meter-high unclimbed peak.

“There are always some indescribable experiences in a climber’s life,” Kong Youlong said to summarize his feelings about mountaineering and the outdoors. No one would guess he is nearly fifty years old. Perhaps he isn’t the best climber in China, but he has a strong drive and deep interest in the mountains. He has climbed Mount Siguniang’s Big Peak, Second Peak, Third Peak, Banji Peak, the Little Everest of Xinjiang, Camel Peak, and many others more than once. It was because of the mountains that he met like-minded climbing partners such as Luo Biao and Wang Yong. And it was because of dreams that he and his teammates set off for “Unnamed Peak 6252.”

Different from other climbers’ chosen routes, Kong Youlong and his teammates do not chase altitude or popular areas. Across China’s vast land lie many hidden geographical wonders, and Unnamed Peak 6252 is one of them. In their planned 12-day journey, the team will encounter glaciers, scree slopes, and ice-rock routes. “My teammates and I began scouting this route back in 2011 and have gathered first-hand information about the region’s climate, snow, and ice,” said Kong. “We must reach the summit of the snowy peak for a baptism of the soul!” Before departure, he expressed full confidence in the climb.
