At 3 p.m. on July 26, the finals of the GIBBON Super Riders Selection Race — Asia Outdoor Expo Station were held in the CD Registration Hall of the Asia Outdoor Expo. After several rounds of fierce competition, Lu Fenghua, Li Kangchao, and Lu Anmin won the championship, runner-up, and third place respectively.
During the interview, the reporter learned that slacklining originated in Europe, initially just simple walking on a flat line. After 2007, slacklining evolved into various forms, including freestyle slacklining and highline slacklining.
Currently, freestyle slacklining has become the most popular form of the sport due to its dynamic performance rhythm and cool, diverse technical moves. This event invited three judges to the finals of the GIBBON Super Riders Selection Race — Asia Outdoor Expo Station: Chen Hui (nicknamed: Slackline Hui), a domestic highline expert and Guinness World Record holder for highline walking; Yang Lianwu (nicknamed: Nanjing Unfallen), a senior Nanjing-based slacklining enthusiast; and Weng Jiayin, a slacklining coach from the Guangzhou Sport University.
Ye Hangan, GIBBON Manager at Dute (Shenzhen) Trading Co., Ltd., said: “Currently, the slacklining community in China is still relatively small. Hosting two major competitions per year provides them with an excellent platform to showcase their skills. For beginners, the most important thing is to control their balance, which involves using their arms, legs, and waist to manage their center of gravity. When on the slackline, it’s beneficial for participants to focus their gaze on a point far ahead on the line to help maintain stability. The company currently sponsors slacklining equipment to over forty schools and has established a partnership with the Guangdong Sport University. We hope more people will learn about and participate in slacklining.”
