Wang Jing, an extraordinary woman hailed as the “alpine snow lotus,” co-founder of outdoor gear company Toread, will bring her debut book *The Quiet Mountain* to Peking University. Teaming up with the Peking University Mountaineering Association (Shanying Society), she will share her legendary stories about the mountains and freedom with all who love adventure.

*The Quiet Mountain* is the first book by legendary woman Wang Jing (@FeixueJingjing, with nearly one million Weibo followers), recounting her journey from a working girl to a co-founder of a listed company, from Fragrant Hills to Mount Everest. She has summited seven 8,000-meter peaks and set foot on the planet’s three poles. She only began attending school in town during middle school, where her “spicy” Mandarin accent made her the butt of jokes; her first job was waiting tables and carrying plates; at 19, she met the love of her life and started a business together, founding “Toread”; she personally sewed Toread’s very first tent; she carried outdoor gear that she helped develop herself up to Mount Everest... On Cho Oyu, she faced an avalanche, winds of force 12, and went without food or water for over 20 hours; on Everest, during acclimatization training, she heard the tragic news of two friends dying in an accident, and wondered, “Will I make it back?”; on Makalu, she raced up in six days but faced a teammate emergency on descent; on Broad Peak, she attempted four summit pushes in just 23 days, equivalent to climbing one 6,000-meter, two 7,000-meter, and one 8,000-meter mountain in a row... She has set numerous climbing records, yet after summiting Everest, she felt a sense of bittersweetness; she has achieved success in career, family, parenthood, wealth, and honor, yet most people don’t know her “other side”... From looking up in awe to gazing down from above, not one of her steps has been simple, and any second could have been her last. No matter how high Everest is, it’s only higher than the others—the heights life can reach are always beyond imagination. There are many ways to realize one’s life value. As long as you keep “climbing” and surpassing yourself step by step, everyone can reach the peak of their own life.

                                                  That Fearless Alpine Snow Lotus

She has summited seven 8,000-meter peaks and set foot on the planet’s three poles. In the mountains, she has survived avalanches, endured winds of force 12, and brushed shoulders with death more than once. Born in a small village in Ziyang, Sichuan, she is the co-founder of Toread, a Chinese listed company and outdoor brand. She is China’s female mountaineer with the most 8,000-meter summits. Beyond climbing and entrepreneurship, she emphasizes corporate social responsibility, is passionate about environmental protection, and is involved in public welfare. She is Wang Jing, also known as FeixueJingjing. *The Quiet Mountain* is her first book. She is:

The first Chinese woman to summit Manaslu (8,156m)

The first Chinese amateur female climber to summit Shishapangma (8,012m)

The first mainland Chinese woman to summit Mount Everest (8,844m) via the South Col

The first Chinese woman to summit Lhotse (8,516m)

The first Chinese woman to summit Broad Peak (8,051m)

The first Chinese woman to summit seven peaks above 8,000 meters
