Peng Tianwei's championship award ceremony
On October 20, the highly anticipated final round of the 2013 National Motocross Championship concluded successfully in Wuyi, Zhejiang. After four grueling rounds in Shanxi Pinglu, Inner Mongolia Damiaoqi, Guizhou Liupanshui, and Zhejiang Wuyi, Peng Tianwei from the KAILAS team ultimately claimed the 2013 National Motocross Championship Overall Title with astonishing strength. This was also Peng Tianwei’s first national overall championship.
The Wuyi, Zhejiang round was this year’s second international invitational event and the most crucial final battle. As the sole competitor from the KAILAS team, Peng Tianwei went head-to-head alone against the Yunnan Giant Real Estate Motorcycle Team—also competing in the imported 250CC Category A and considered the pre-race favorite to win—naturally making the race highly anticipated. But in the end, Peng Tianwei faced a formidable and powerful opponent, stood up to the pressure without fear, showcased his own style and dominance, and ultimately took the win and brought home the Overall Championship trophy.
Peng Tianwei during the race
Despite this tremendous success, Peng Tianwei remained remarkably composed. Speaking to reporters, he admitted: although he had won the domestic rider championship, there was still a gap compared to foreign riders. Firstly, domestic and foreign riders operate in different environments, and there are fewer races domestically with less systematic training. The two opportunities to compete against foreign riders this year had a particularly strong impact on him. Peng Tianwei also hopes that Chinese professional motocross riders can engage in more exchanges with international competitors in the future, thereby promoting greater and faster development of China’s professional motocross events.
