    Film Descriptions

    The Sensei / Best Partner
At 43, Yuji Hirayama is one of climbing’s rare living legends. Nearing retirement, he plans to complete his toughest project yet—a climb of Indonesia’s majestic Mount Kinabalu—as the perfect finale to his career. But first, he needs the right partner. Daniel Woods, a young American bouldering phenom and one of the world’s top climbers, lacks high-altitude experience. Determined to prove himself, Daniel travels to Japan to join Hirayama and become a lifelong adventure partner.

HIGH TENSION: UELI STECK AND THE CLASH ON EVEREST / Tense Showdown on Everest
Once again, Everest grabs global headlines as two of the world’s best high-altitude alpinists, Ueli Steck and Simone Moro, attempt to open a new, ultra-difficult route on the world’s highest—and most crowded—peak. At Camp 2, they’re brutally attacked by a group of Sherpas. Fearing for their lives, the climbers descend, sparking an international uproar. Sherpas, Western climbers, guide companies, and even the mountain itself are drawn into a storm of controversy. REEL ROCK offers an exclusive look at what really happened—and why.

SPICE GIRL / Climbing Spice Girl
In Britain’s traditionally strict climbing scene, driven by bold ascents and fierce competition, young climbers risk everything to prove themselves. Yet here, women outshine the men—meet Hazel Findlay, the Spice Girl of climbing. The first woman to complete an E9-rated British trad route, Hazel is a master of loose rock, sketchy gear, and long, unprotected leads. After conquering her local sea cliffs, she and partner Emily Harrington set their sights on Morocco’s Taghia Gorge to tackle its untouched big walls.

    THE STONEMASTERS / Rock Masters
Sender Films presents a documentary on over 50 years of counterculture climbing in Yosemite National Park. Tentatively titled "Valley Uprising," the film unveils the legends—from the epic rivalry of Royal Robbins and Warren Harding to the 1977 plane crash and escalating tensions between climbers and rangers. This year’s Rock Film Tour includes a sneak peek at the trailer, highlighting pioneers like Jim Bridwell and other icons of this wild era.
