Taiwan has another brand-new landmark to explore！ Located in the Beitou area of Taipei City, a giant colorful light ball resembling a dreamy dandelion lights up the night sky, becoming a hotspot for social media check-ins.

This giant dreamy dandelion is actually a public art installation titled "Xian Pao Er" (literally “Fairy Bubbles”), designed by Lin Shun-long, the creator of the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival’s main lantern, for the Xian Du Ultra-High Voltage Substation in Beitou. It consists of multiple colorful glass spheres, with intricate multicolored patterns visible upon closer inspection.

"Xian Pao Er" combines colorful glass spheres and a pleated skirt-like column to create the image of a dandelion pistil. The column’s top features a 5.5-meter-diameter glowing sphere made of colored kiln-fired glass, equipped internally with temperature sensors that trigger LED lights to emit one of seven colors—blue, green, cyan, yellow, orange, red, or purple—depending on the ambient temperature.

Additionally, Taipower’s Taipei North District Business Office will be relocating next to the Xian Du Substation. Lin Shun-long has also designed the public artwork "Endless Treasure" on the surrounding lawn. "Endless Treasure" is a stainless steel sculpture inspired by plant forms, combining public art with ecology and technology, featuring full-color LEDs and sensors installed within the inner space.

"Endless Treasure" also invited French sound artist Yannick Dauby to design natural sounds for the piece. When visitors approach the artwork, the sensors connect to a computer system to play nature sounds such as insect chirping, birdsong, and raindrops, allowing people to enjoy the beauty of natural music amid the urban jungle.
