Cleaning up garbage to maintain the sustainable development of the ecosystem
Nearly 30 volunteers participated in this Lion Outdoor Gear event to protect Tibetan antelopes in beautiful Hoh Xil, about half of whom were from Fujian, including entrepreneurs from southern Fujian and classmates from the President Class at Xiamen University.
On the afternoon of June 27, upon arrival, the volunteers visited the Qinghai Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve Administration and subsequently held an ecological and environmental protection seminar themed "Focusing on Ecological Protection and Caring for Wildlife." Teacher Wang Fangchen, Secretary-General of the Committee on Rare and Exotic Animals of the China Association for Scientific Expedition, gave the volunteers a detailed explanation of the current ecological environment and the living conditions of wildlife in Hoh Xil.
On the morning of June 28, the launch ceremony of the Lion Outdoor Gear Beautiful Hoh Xil Volunteer Environmental Protection Activity was held at the administration, presided over by Director Bu Zhou of the administration, who also presented the flag. After the launch ceremony, the volunteers set off for the Sonam Dajie Protection Station in Hoh Xil, more than 300 kilometers away.
"Our station has no drinking water source; all drinking water is transported from the Budongquan Protection Station 60 kilometers away." As soon as the volunteers arrived at the Sonam Dajie Protection Station, Station Chief Wenge asked them to conserve water. There was no water for bathing at the station, only a small amount for washing faces and brushing teeth.
June to July is the peak season for the large-scale migration of Tibetan antelopes in Hoh Xil. The volunteers' activities over the following days were centered around the Sonam Dajie Protection Station. Together with the station staff, they patrolled the mountains, rescued injured or lost wildlife, and carried out environmental protection activities such as ecological publicity and trash collection on foot, contributing to the protection of Tibetan antelopes.
On the morning of June 29, under the leadership of Xu Rongsheng, the volunteer team leader of the "Lion Walks the World" Hoh Xil Environmental Protection Activity, garbage was cleaned up here. "This is a pure place and should not have so much garbage. I hope that more people will consciously join environmental protection activities in the future to maintain the pristine natural environment of the Hoh Xil region," said Xu Rongsheng.
A Lion Outdoor Gear representative stated that venturing into the vast wilderness, seeking the truest self, contributing to environmental public welfare, and stepping into beautiful Hoh Xil are the original intentions behind the Lion Walks the World initiative promoted by Lion Outdoor. "Participating in the Hoh Xil Tibetan antelope protection activity and jointly paying attention to and protecting domestic wildlife and the ecological environment is a very meaningful endeavor for Lion Outdoor. As a well-known brand in the outdoor industry, Lion Outdoor has always hoped to fulfill its corporate social responsibility and realize its brand’s social value through its own actions. Lion Outdoor calls on everyone to care for wildlife, protect the ecological environment, and spread positive outdoor culture while engaging in outdoor sports."
Setting up checkpoints to protect Tibetan antelopes
According to interviews, the volunteer team set out from the Sonam Dajie Protection Station in the Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve, visiting various protection stations along the way and participating in volunteer activities. They paid tribute to environmental warriors and the families of martyrs who gave their lives in the reserve, donated relevant supplies and equipment to protection station heroes who work in harsh environments and bravely fight poachers, and conducted scientific investigations into the unique humanistic and ecological environment of the Hoh Xil region. The average altitude during this crossing process was above 4,600 meters. While challenging their physical limits, the team focused on examining the current state of environmental and wildlife protection in the area and explored related issues in economics, law, natural sciences, and other fields.
June to July is the peak season for the large-scale migration of Tibetan antelopes, and the spectacular and rare scenes are self-evident. However, because the fur of these animals is rare and noble, it has brought them to the brink of extinction. In the last century, before relevant laws and regulations were enacted in China, poachers had free rein, pushing the already scarce Tibetan antelope population to the edge of extinction.
To protect these precious animals, represented by the martyr Jiesang Sonam Dajie, there is a group of great environmental protection warriors in the Hoh Xil Nature Reserve who fear no hardships. Every day, they risk threats from both the environment and poachers, dedicating their youth and blood to this pristine land with great enthusiasm.
As volunteers to protect Tibetan antelopes, whether individuals or companies, everyone is taking action to help the staff ensure the smooth migration of Tibetan antelopes. Starting with small steps, they are committed to advancing China’s wildlife protection efforts while further seeking friendly exchanges and technical cooperation with wildlife protection organizations in various countries and internationally, making greater contributions to the cause of social public welfare.
Products Ensure Safety, Scientific Routes Sustain Environmental Protection
For most people, getting into Hoh Xil is not easy, and there is no luxury tourism. After entering Hoh Xil along the Kunlun Mountains, the volunteers saw the legendary beautiful Hoh Xil and truly experienced its harsh weather conditions, where "there are four seasons in one day and different skies every ten miles." Along the way, they encountered all kinds of severe weather, from beautiful blue skies and white clouds to rain, snow, and hail.
In such a harsh environment, it is essential to quickly adapt to the special living conditions. Eating, living, walking, and everything else must be carefully learned. In the no-man's land of Hoh Xil, anyone’s arbitrariness is constrained by nature, and everyone is equal in terms of the value of life.
To ensure the safety of the participants and the smooth implementation of the volunteer activity plan, based on the actual conditions of the Hoh Xil Tibetan Antelope Protection Project site, Lion Outdoor Gear specially invited professional consultants and coaching teams to organize outdoor training courses and a series of adaptive exercises for the team members. At the same time, Lion Outdoor Gear provided targeted gear solutions according to the climate and road conditions of the route, ensuring the participants' comfort with the professional support of Lion Outdoor Gear equipment, allowing them to better free their minds and experience the perfect integration of body and nature. This included gear such as 50L backpacks, two-piece windbreakers, elastic quick-drying pants, hiking shoes, outdoor glasses, headscarves, hats, vests, water bottles, and whistles.
For this reason, as the organizer of this event, Lion Outdoor Gear specially applied its years of advanced experience in the design and R&D of outdoor products to develop comfortable and safe outdoor adventure wear series to ensure the smooth progress of the activity. "After entering Hoh Xil, the average altitude on the plateau is 4,600 meters, with significant temperature differences between day and night. Therefore, we specifically prepared and developed a series of products to maximally meet the temperature range for outdoor activities. We also set higher requirements for the functional R&D of this customized series to cope with various complex outdoor environments," said Lü Menglong, Development Director of Lion Outdoor Products Co., Ltd.
Practicing Environmental Protection Concepts
Lion Outdoor Gear recruited photography and environmental enthusiasts from all walks of life to form the 2014 Hoh Xil Tibetan Antelope Protection Volunteer Team. "Currently, after careful selection, the Lion Outdoor Gear Hoh Xil Tibetan Antelope Protection Volunteer Team has successfully completed this mission.
Xu Rongsheng introduced that in today’s world of resource scarcity and severe ecological damage, environmental protection issues are increasingly drawing public attention. Hoh Xil is rich in rare wildlife resources and is known as an animal paradise and a pure land on earth. Its ecological environment is of great importance and has drawn attention from enterprises and society. "As an outdoor enterprise with a high sense of social responsibility, Lion Outdoor has always made protecting nature a key mission in our brand’s development. This time, we initiated the recruitment of volunteers to go deep into Hoh Xil to protect the precious Tibetan antelopes. The goal is to pay tribute to the environmental warriors and martyrs’ families who gave their lives in the reserve, and to donate relevant supplies and equipment to the protection station warriors who work in harsh environments and bravely fight poachers. We hope to contribute to the environmental protection efforts in Hoh Xil in this way."
Industry insiders stated that Lion Outdoor Gear, by leveraging the strength of its own brand, called on all sectors of society to recruit environmental enthusiasts. Especially in today’s world of resource scarcity and severe ecological damage, environmental protection issues are increasingly drawing public attention. Hoh Xil is rich in rare wildlife resources and is known as an animal paradise and a pure land on earth. Its ecological environment is of great importance and has drawn attention from enterprises and society, making this effort of far-reaching significance.
In fact, the local outdoor brand Lion Outdoor Gear proposed its brand philosophy of "equality, respect, and love" as early as three years ago and closely integrated this philosophy with its public welfare activities. Whether it was the African Maasai Mara wildlife protection project or the upcoming Hoh Xil environmental protection journey, Xu Rongsheng, Chairman of Lion Outdoor Products Co., Ltd., had already given further thought: "Unlike other companies that simply advertise, we will focus more on promoting in-depth corporate public welfare activities through the combination of 'public welfare activities + self-media platforms.' We don’t need to deliberately promote the corporate brand but rather play more of a behind-the-scenes role. After several events, even without excessive embellishment by the company, the brand philosophy of 'equality, respect, and love' has gradually taken root in people’s hearts."
