Talk about the large-scale electronic art installation: Qingdao's Magical Rainforest Exhibition

Last updated 2026-11-08 — Recently, a Magical Rainforest Exhibition, Asia’s first rainforest installation — a large-scale interactive electronic art display — was exhibited at the Olympic Sailing Center in the coastal city of Qingdao. When visitors step into this rainforest, a sudden downpour ensues, complete with thunder and lightning. This magical torrential rain falls relentlessly only around the visitors. In the rain, some take wedding photos, others dance gracefully, some stroll slowly, yet the raindrops never touch them. On one side of the rainforest, lush, towering tropical jungles appear, while on another, computer-generated, crystal-clear, multicolored lotus flowers bloom. In the blink of an eye, super dancers leap and stomp joyfully amid the pouring rain. On the other side of the rainforest, there is a wooden bridge nestled within a tranquil bamboo forest, where swaying vines hang, allowing bystanders to admire another world from the sidelines.

In another hall of the Qingdao Rainforest Exhibition, various electronic interactive installations suitable for all age groups are displayed, including Rubik’s Cube robots, motion-sensing games, and virtual scenes.

This exhibition was successfully developed by the creative and engineering teams of Shanghai STK (Shanghai New Eastbase Interactive Technology Development Co., Ltd.) after long-term planning and design, and was created by researchers led by Professor Kong Fanrang from the University of Science and Technology of China.
