On August 23, the "Hiking in Yanqing? Cheer for the Winter Olympics Bid" 2014 Beijing Hiking Carnival and Yanqing International Hiking Conference were successfully held at Wild Duck Lake in Yanqing. Over 5,000 hiking enthusiasts from Beijing and Zhangjiakou participated, promoting the joint bid of Beijing and Zhangjiakou for the 2022 Winter Olympics through green travel. During the event, HowToTrip provided full technical support for the hiking routes.
A relevant official from the Beijing Hiking Association introduced that this year's Beijing Hiking Carnival incorporated the theme of cheering for the Winter Olympics bid. The carnival and Yanqing International Hiking Conference were divided into three parts: the opening ceremony, hiking walk, and hiking carnival. The event featured two hiking routes: 5 kilometers and 20 kilometers. As participants passed each certification point, volunteers distributed colored certification wristbands. At the finish line certification area, participants could stamp their new edition "Beijing Hiking Passport" with a commemorative seal and receive a souvenir from the organizing committee.
HowToTrip provided full technical support for the hiking routes during the event. Based on the natural environment of Wild Duck Lake, they offered professional advice and planning for the hiking routes, enabling citizens to enjoy outdoor hiking with optimal physical exertion, achieving both fitness and a connection with nature. Additionally, HowToTrip interacted with attendees on-site, distributing small gifts such as multi-functional outdoor sun-shading headscarves and outdoor stickers, which were warmly welcomed.
The event was jointly organized by the Communist Youth League Municipal Committee, China Sports Publishing House, Yanqing County, and the Beijing Hiking Association. Meanwhile, the Beijing Hiking Association officially certified the lakeside road and wetland trail around Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park as a "Municipal Recommended Hiking and Walking Trail," adding another great spot for leisure and exercise to the beautiful Yanqing, known as the "Gallery of Beijing."
