On August 23, "Hiking in Yanqing? Cheer for Beijing's Winter Olympics Bid" — the 2014 Beijing Hiking Carnival and Yanqing International Hiking Conference was successfully held at Wild Duck Lake in Yanqing. Over 5,000 hiking enthusiasts from Beijing and Zhangjiakou participated, using green travel to cheer for the joint bid of Beijing and Zhangjiakou for the 2022 Winter Olympics. During the event, GreenYard provided full technical support for the hiking route.
A relevant official from the Beijing Hiking Association introduced that this year’s Beijing Hiking Carnival incorporated the theme of cheering for the Winter Olympics bid. The carnival and Yanqing International Hiking Conference were divided into three parts: the opening ceremony, hiking walk, and hiking carnival. The event featured two hiking routes — 5 km and 20 km. As participants passed each certification point, volunteers distributed colored certification wristbands. At the finish line certification area, participants could get a commemorative stamp on their new edition "Beijing Hiking Passport" and receive a souvenir from the organizing committee.
GreenYard provided full technical support for the hiking route during the event. Based on the natural environment of Wild Duck Lake, they offered professional advice and planning for the hiking course, enabling citizens to enjoy outdoor hiking with optimal physical exertion, achieving both fitness and nature appreciation. Meanwhile, GreenYard also interacted with participants on-site, distributing small gifts such as multi-functional outdoor sun-shading headscarves and outdoor stickers, which were warmly welcomed.
The event was jointly organized by the Communist Youth League Municipal Committee, China Sports Publishing Group, Yanqing County, and the Beijing Hiking Sports Association. Additionally, the Beijing Hiking Sports Association officially certified the lakeside path and wetland trail around Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park as a "Municipal Recommended Hiking and Walking Trail," adding another great spot for leisure and exercise to the beautiful Yanqing, known as the "Gallery of Beijing."
