From August 23-24, the 2014 "ShanLiang" Guangdong All-Terrain Vehicle Arena Off-Road Open Championship was grandly held at the Heshan Racing Circuit in Guangdong. The event was organized by the Guangdong Provincial Sports Federation and co-organized by the Jiangmen City Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Association and the Guangdong Branch of the Membership Department of the Federation of Automobile Sports of China. Currently, this circuit is the largest all-terrain vehicle off-road racing venue in Guangdong Province, and the competition attracted hundreds of drivers to participate.
The competition featured four categories: ATV Men's Professional All-Terrain Vehicle Group, ATV Men's Open All-Terrain Vehicle Group, UTV Men's All-Terrain Vehicle Group, and UTV Women's All-Terrain Vehicle Group. The races were head-to-head, with results determined by the sum of the time taken to complete the prescribed course, points earned, and any added penalty time. The track included special sections such as continuous slopes, jump ramps, and sharp turns. The overall design of the course put the performance of the all-terrain vehicles and the driving skills of the racers to the test, delivering an exciting, thrilling, and highly entertaining competition.
Peng Tianwei, captain of the KAILAS?VAUDE team, competed in the "ATV Men's Open All-Terrain Vehicle Group" and claimed first place. After the race, he was interviewed by the news segment of the "Guangdong TV Sports Channel." As a professional off-road motorcycle rider who had never trained specifically for all-terrain vehicles, his easy victory surprised the reporters. When asked whether he preferred off-road motorcycles or all-terrain vehicles, he said: "Off-road motorcycles are something I want to do for life, while all-terrain vehicles are something I want to accomplish with heart and ensure that I deliver an exciting race for everyone." We hope this young off-road motorcycle rider will continue to strive and look forward to him bringing us a unique world of extreme off-roading.
