On August 30, the third-season Shanghai stop of the "31 Forests Star Journey," co-hosted by Fashion Tourism magazine and Subaru (China), was successfully held at Sheshan National Forest Park. The day before the event, it had rained, making Shanghai even more verdant and captivating, and the refreshing weather did not diminish the participants’ excitement. Guided by Subaru, the “experts in adventure,” over 50 Subaru car owners explored the Shanghai Film Museum and Sheshan National Forest Park. During the event, our Subaru participants successfully completed both cultural and environmental missions. Through test rides and test drives, they experienced the outstanding driving performance of Subaru, the “expert in adventure,” while also becoming aware of their responsibility to protect forest ecosystems and joining us in safeguarding the Earth.
The first stop of this event took us to the Shanghai Film Museum, a key venue chosen for our cultural exploration. The Shanghai Film Museum showcases the city’s cultural evolution and film heritage, allowing the over 50 Subaru participants to gain a deeper understanding of Shanghai’s cultural roots and revisit the city’s storied past. As the birthplace of Chinese cinema, Shanghai has long been a dominant force in the industry and the very foundation of Chinese-language filmmaking. Throughout the century-long history of Chinese film, Shanghai has achieved remarkable cultural milestones. On the museum’s first floor, in the Hall of Fame, numerous exhibits from China’s 100-year cinematic history were displayed, offering Subaru drivers insights into the development of Chinese film. The second floor, the Film Factory, revealed the fascinating secrets behind movie production and creativity, opening a window into the technology that brings dreams to life. Here, Subaru participants observed the filmmaking process and felt the captivating artistic charm of the museum. In the interactive area, both Subaru owners and their children truly experienced how modern technology elevates film and culture as a whole. In the Light and Shadow Memory section of the museum, classic scenes from Shanghai’s cinematic history were on display. The “100 Years of Distribution and Screening” exhibition used models, advertisements, and over a hundred posters from various historical periods to revisit a century of distribution history and showcase the enduring cultural appeal of Shanghai cinema.
After completing the cultural mission at the Shanghai Film Museum, the Subaru participants drove to Sheshan National Forest Park. Located in the southwestern Songjiang District of Shanghai’s suburbs, the park features a peak elevation of 99 meters and spans an area of 9 square kilometers, making it the highest point in the Shanghai region. It includes both East and West Sheshan and is the only mountainous tourism area in Shanghai. The main entrance to the East Sheshan Park is located at the foot of the hill southwest of South Peak, where three arches resemble the Chinese character for “mountain.” Majestic and imposing, the entrance opens to a spacious concrete plaza, with an 8-meter-wide, 368-step granite staircase leading up to South Peak. Lush trees line both sides of the staircase, forming a natural canopy, and it is here that our environmental mission would take place.
The main task of this environmental activity was for Subaru participants to collect litter scattered throughout the forest park. To make the mission more engaging, it was divided into several segments: litter collection, specimen making, photo-taking, and team games. After enjoying a delicious lunch, the Subaru participants were divided into groups. Each team came up with an environmentally themed name and designed a team flag, letting the Subaru spirit unite everyone in accomplishing the environmental mission. For litter collection, each group had to gather at least 20 pieces of trash, and the final scores would be based on the quantity collected by each team.
The first litter collection task took place during the hottest part of the afternoon. However, the enthusiasm of the Subaru participants was entirely unaffected by the humid and stuffy conditions. Accompanied by their children, they raced toward the mountaintop, competing to pick up trash scattered across the park. At the same time, without harming any part of nature, the Subaru participants also created “fallen leaf specimens” and “insect specimens.” Each team successfully completed the team game activities, strengthening their teamwork and enhancing everyone’s awareness of environmental protection. In the end, every group received excellent scores, reflecting Subaru’s spirit of never giving up and always standing by our side.
This event not only allowed Subaru participants to contribute to nature but also gave them the joy of escaping the hustle and bustle of the city, slowing down, and enjoying and connecting with nature. During the trip, the Subaru models we drove — the Legacy, Forester, and XV — utilized unique technologies such as Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and horizontally opposed engines. Their outstanding performance during the Shanghai stop’s test rides and test drives remained consistently excellent, handling urban roads with ease.
The "31 Forests Star Journey" is the first large-scale event launched by Subaru Automobile (China) Co., Ltd., based on its "Subaru Forest Ecological Protection Project," to promote the concept of forest ecological conservation. Subaru combines its philosophy of natural protection with its SUV models, known as “experts in adventure,” to create a platform for “ecological travel.” This allows all Subaru participants to engage with nature through journeys to the 31 Forests destinations, experience the joy forests bring, and awaken their awareness of protecting green forests during these adventures.
After the successful conclusion of the second-season Shanghai stop of the "31 Forests Star Journey," all participating Subaru enthusiasts expressed that they had gained a rare opportunity to rejuvenate both body and mind in nature, fulfilling Subaru’s goal of sharing the joy of adventure and the spirit of environmental protection. Subaru owners and enthusiasts alike mentioned that through this event, they had gained a deeper understanding of and sense of responsibility toward forest conservation. This rekindled their vision of a healthy and eco-friendly automotive lifestyle, and they hoped to enjoy more adventures in the future.
