Don’t know about the Ice Bucket Challenge? Then you’re out of the loop! The Ice Bucket Challenge, officially known as the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, requires participants to post videos of themselves being drenched with ice-cold water online, then nominate others to take part. Currently, the challenge has gone viral among top tech executives and pro athletes in the United States. In August 2014, the trend reached China’s internet circles. On August 18th at 1:30 pm, Zhou Hongyi, CEO of Qihoo 360, took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by pouring icy water over his head and nominated Pony Ma of Tencent to continue the challenge. Numerous public figures across China have joined in, raising awareness and support for the rare disease ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), in a heartwarming relay of giving.

During the event period, the Hopea chinensis Scenic Area will host its own Ice Bucket Challenge. The scenic area will provide visitors with refreshingly cool spring water and ice sourced from deep within the rainforest. Each participant will receive a limited-edition scenic area cultural T-shirt (limited to 10 per day). There will be no fundraising component—this event is all about sharing the joy of participation. Participants can share text, photos, or videos via the scenic area’s WeChat account wts_6688, then post to their social media or Weibo, tagging @Xishuangbanna Hopea chinensis Scenic Area (Sina) and @three challenge nominees. After verification by staff, participants will receive a special gift.
(3) Ascend the Canopy Walkway — Send Your Thoughts and Wishes

Location: Canopy Walkway/Rainforest Corridor

Time: September 30 – October 7

Event Content:

When National Day meets the Double Ninth Festival, climbing to a high place becomes an essential activity. After walking on the ground for so long, it's natural to feel a bit stuffy. Why not go up high? The towering Hopea chinensis trees have probably been on your must-see list for ages. The tradition of hiking on the Double Ninth Festival has a long history. On this day, people often invite family and friends to climb together, for both exercise and to breathe fresh air while enjoying beautiful views. When you and your loved ones ascend the world’s tallest Canopy Walkway or stroll across the picturesque Rainforest Corridor, gazing out at the vast rainforest landscape and breathing in the fresh “negative oxygen ions,” it’s nothing short of blissful.
