Bald cypress, also known as Taxodium distichum, turns reddish-brown in its flat, linear leaves after winter sets in. Near Jinge Pi in Liujia District, Tainan, there lies a hidden bald cypress paradise where different seasons and viewing angles reveal ever-changing beauty.

Liujia was once a major brick and tile production hub. To meet the demands of brick and tile manufacturing, various ponds of different sizes were excavated, among which Jinge Pi, built in 1930 and funded privately by Huang Jietao, an early resident of Zhongshe in Liujia Village, boasts a long history.

The bald cypress forest planted by the Linkou Ranch around the ranch presents lush greenery in summer, but before shedding its leaves in winter, it dons a red cloak, offering breathtaking scenery.

Travelers can take a train to Linkou Station and first visit the “Linkou Story House” next to the station. Then, they can stroll along the Jinge Pi lakeside leisure trail, gaze at Linkou Overpass from afar, and enjoy the scenic beauty of Jinge Pi and the bald cypress forest along the way.
