A 5-meter-tall super-sized sky lantern, made up of countless small lanterns, shines brightly at night. The dreamy sea of lanterns looks as dazzling as a celestial palace, making it a must-visit hot photo spot that you can't miss right now.

This dreamy sea of lanterns resembling a celestial palace is located in front of the Guan Sheng Di Jun Temple at Guangxing Palace in Sanxia, New Taipei. The temple management built a giant 5-meter sky lantern on the terrace by the pond in front of the temple. It’s very festive for the New Year holidays and is also one of the must-do activities on many travelers’ lists during Lunar New Year visits.

The huge sky lantern is made up of the main structure and a large number of small lanterns, which are the hard work of students from 16 elementary schools. It is a collective effort and also symbolizes the collective blessing of everyone.

And on this massive lantern, the temple management has added a thoughtful touch — arranging small lanterns to spell out four characters: “出 (exit), 入 (enter), 平 (peace), 安 (safety),” wishing all visitors who come to worship a safe and peaceful year ahead.

The Guangxing Palace management has also thoughtfully prepared lottery tickets. Travelers just need to go to Guangxing Palace to take photos and check in, and they’ll receive one lottery ticket per mobile phone. Not only do you get to travel and pay respects, but you also have a chance to win big prizes.
