On January 30, 2015, at the ISPO Outdoor Exhibition in Beijing, the professional outdoor brand KAILAS held a briefing on its 2014–2015 training programs and introduced the new concept of the “Outdoor Academy.” Over the years, the KAILAS brand has developed one outdoor training program after another, including the KAILAS Outdoor Coach Development Program, the Mountaineering Adventure School, the Coach K Signed Star Coaches, and the KAILAS Equipment Testing Laboratory. These have gradually formed a comprehensive outdoor training system, bringing together top-tier training resources in the industry. The introduction of the “Outdoor Academy” concept aims to integrate, expand, and deepen existing training resources, build an ecosystem for domestic outdoor training, promote the healthy development of outdoor sports in China, and enable a wider range of outdoor enthusiasts to gain access to scientific outdoor knowledge, equipment knowledge, and standardized skills.

   KAILAS Outdoor Coach Development Program

The “KAILAS Outdoor Coach Development Program” was officially launched in Shenzhen in August 2007. This project develops a training curriculum system tailored for amateur outdoor sports enthusiasts and provides course outputs to local industry associations and outdoor organizations to help them cultivate their own coaching teams, thereby better serving local outdoor enthusiasts. To date, in 2014 alone, five outdoor coach classes were held across the country, training a total of 110 students. At the same time, coaches trained through the “KAILAS Outdoor Coach Development Program” conducted 48 beginner-level outdoor training sessions (1,192 participants), 40 intermediate-level outdoor training sessions (810 participants), and 10 outdoor leader training sessions (309 participants) in 2014.

After nearly eight years of accumulation, the four-level course certification system for outdoor sports enthusiasts has become increasingly refined, and the courses' influence among outdoor enthusiasts has grown significantly. Entering 2015, the “KAILAS Outdoor Coach Development Program” will initially confirm plans to hold approximately 10 coach classes in Liaoning, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Xinjiang, based on local needs and conditions. Last year’s nine signed Coach K star coaches will join the teaching staff for these 10 coach classes, and this year, another eight Coach K star coaches will be added to the team.

Meanwhile, the “KAILAS Outdoor Coach Development Program” will also collaborate with Xiaomaoli Technology Company this year to launch the “Outdoor Coach Development Program Scholarship” system, providing additional incentives for outstanding students in the outdoor coach classes.

   KAILAS Equipment Testing Laboratory

The KAILAS Equipment Testing Laboratory is a new platform launched by the KAILAS brand for equipment testing applications. Whether you’re a climbing expert who thrives in extreme environments, a mud-covered adventurer exploring mountains and lakes, or a tech-savvy homebody who loves taking gear apart to see how it works—this open platform welcomes all outdoor geeks to apply. KAILAS hopes this platform will bridge communication with users, promote correct outdoor gear knowledge, and gather insights from experts sharing their experiences with gear.

   KAILAS National Store Manager Training

The development of the KAILAS brand has always been inseparable from retail outlets. This year, the brand has done significant work to improve store management skills, expand sales and service techniques, and fill product knowledge gaps. KAILAS’ terminal training has been ongoing for four or five years, previously offering programs for frontline staff (store managers and sales associates) as well as for supervisors and higher-level personnel. During 2010–2011, two store manager training sessions were held, each with around 40 participants. In 2012–2013, training for supervisors and regional sales staff was also conducted. This year, based on feedback from previous training sessions, the effects were immediate—within two weeks of training (mid-to-late November and early December), participants helped foster a learning atmosphere in their stores and boosted sales performance. “Fear No Cold, Explore Life”—the 2014 KAILAS National Store Manager Training Project was officially launched in September 2014. Between November and December, a total of four store manager training sessions were held, each consisting of a “5-day course + 1-day assessment.” Over 150 store managers from across the country actively participated and ultimately received completion certificates. Some outstanding groups were even awarded titles such as “Gold Team” and “Silver Team.” Moving forward, the focus will continue to be on providing ongoing training services for retail outlets.
