On March 30, the opening ceremony of the "2015 Cross-Strait Design Camp" and the promotional event for the Hanergy Global Thin-Film Power Product Innovation Competition were held at Beijing Jiaotong University. With thin-film power generation as the theme, the event brought together faculty and student representatives from 14 universities across the Taiwan Strait through a wide range of diverse and comprehensive exchange activities such as the opening ceremony, expert lectures, technical presentations, and student practical workshops, fostering closer connections and jointly igniting the light of cross-strait design. A number of distinguished guests from the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, the Ministry of Education, universities on both sides of the Strait, and Hanergy Thin-Film Power Group attended the ceremony, witnessing the creative journey of thin-film power generation alongside faculty and student representatives from both sides. Designboom provided full coverage and reporting of this event.
Chen Feng, Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, congratulating Hanergy on its achievements in technological innovation and leading industrial transformation, and expressing gratitude to the renowned alumnus Li Hejun and Hanergy for their strong support to the university over the years. He pointed out that Hanergy possesses globally leading thin-film power generation technology, and its hosted thin-film power competition provides an excellent platform for cross-boundary innovation and creativity stimulation. He hoped that the more than 190 faculty and student representatives of the "2015 Cross-Strait Design Camp" would leverage this platform to maximize their strengths and achieve outstanding results together. Zhao Lingshan, Executive Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education, Tsai Chin-fa, President of Asia University, and Zhang Qingliang, Executive President of Hanergy Product Development Group China Company, also delivered speeches successively, fully affirming the significance of exchanges promoted by the "2015 Cross-Strait Design Camp" and Hanergy’s strong support for cross-strait exchange activities.

During the Cross-Strait Design Camp, students from both sides of the Strait were divided into 12 groups. Utilizing Hanergy’s globally leading thin-film solar technology and focusing on mobile energy and environmental concepts, each group worked on designing and implementing one competition proposal, leveraging creativity to develop related industrial and daily-use products. Experts and engineers from Hanergy introduced the competition format, participation methods, and judging criteria of the Global Thin-Film Power Product Innovation Competition, providing in-depth explanations on the technology and applications of thin-film power generation. The advantages of thin-film power generation technology—such as flexibility, light weight, good performance under low light, color adjustability, and shape moldability—along with its broad application fields, sparked great interest among the designers and faculty-student representatives present. They engaged in enthusiastic discussions with Hanergy engineers about the design directions and possibilities for thin-film power generation products.
The nine-day cross-strait design camp will conclude with a final presentation by all participating students, where distinguished guests will evaluate and award prizes for the designs. The "Cross-Strait Design Camp," as a key exchange project of the School of Architecture and Art at Beijing Jiaotong University in 2015, is also an important venue for the Hanergy Global Thin-Film Power Product Innovation Competition. The collaboration between these two platforms will deeply promote the exchange of the latest design theories and practical experiences across the Taiwan Strait, further advancing widespread innovation in the field of design and the popularization of thin-film power generation products.
